City of Las Vegas Business License Instructions

Mobile Food Trailer

Any person who offers for sale or sells food items by means of a food service trailer. Food service trailer means a mobile food unit that is drawn by a motorized vehicle and is intended for use in vending.

4. Apply for and obtain a Health Permit for each vehicle and a health card for each operator from the Southern Nevada Health Department. For more information call (702) 759-1000 or visit their web site at

6. Provide a copy of a valid, unexpired Nevada vehicle registration for each vehicle.

Maintain public liability and property damage insurance which shall protect the public against any and all claims for personal injury damages, including death, and property damages which may arise out of or in connection with any operations or activities of the mobile food vendor. The amount of such insurance shall not be less than $100,000 for injuries, including death, to any one person, and subject to the same limit for each person in an amount of not less than $300,000, including death, to more than one person on account of any one accident, and property damage insurance in an amount not less than $25,000 for each accident. A certificate of insurance shall be provided to the Department prior to the issuance of a business license and the City shall be named as an additional insured party. Any insurance coverage provided under this Section shall also contain a provision that any cancellation or material change in the coverage shall not become effective until the City has been given sixty days prior written notification.

9. Fees due at time application is submitted are $150 ($100 license fee + $50 processing fee). License fees are based on the gross revenue of the business and are due in advance semiannually. If your business is approved for operation from your home and you reside in the city limits of Las Vegas an additional one time fee of $50 is required for a Home Occupation Permit. 10. Business license applications are sent to the Planning Department and Fire Department for review and inspection, if applicable. Upon approval from these agencies and completion of all items listed above, the Business Licensing Division will issue your business license.
