City of Las Vegas Business License Instructions

Is a business whose agents, brokers, or adjusters transact insurance subject to the regulations of NRS 679A. The license fee for this category includes the first agent, broker or adjuster who otherwise would be required to pay a license fee as a sales or service agent or representative.

1. Confirm the proposed business location is within the Las Vegas city limits and properly zoned for this activity, if applicable. 2. Provide proof of compliance with the Nevada Secretary of State located at 2250 Las Vegas Boulevard North, North Las Vegas, Nevada 89030. Provide proof of compliance with the Nevada Department of Taxation located at 555 East Washington Avenue, Suite 1300, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101. 3. Obtain a state insurance license in accordance with NRS Chapter 679A. Call the Nevada State Department of Business and Industry Insurance Commission at (702) 486-4009 for additional information. The Insurance Commission is located at 2501 East Sahara Avenue #302, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89104.

4. 30 days prior to commencing business, apply on-line at https://DSCportal.LasVegasNevada.gov.

5. All fees are due at the time the license application is submitted. There is a non-refundable application fee of $50.00, and the annual license fee is calculated based upon the number of professionals working at the location, at a rate of $200.00 for the first professional and $200.00 for each additional professional.

6. Business license applications are sent to the Planning Department and Fire Department for review and inspection, if applicable. Upon approval from these agencies and completion of all items listed above, the Business Licensing Division will issue your business license.
